MEDICAL CAMPS
Medical treatment for people all over is getting expensive. It could be just domiciliary treatment or Hospitalization. Thanks to the rising cost of medicines, investigation charges, Doctors fees etc. People residing in slum colonies chawls and Lower Income group housing societies are all finding it diffICCUlt to bear the expenses.
These are conducted in various localities and colonies having a dense population so that maximum number of people can derive the benefit. But the burden that is taken to administer such a camp is pretty heavy and run in to lakhs of rupees. Now with its expertise Aryan Medical and Educational Trust along with the support of Aryan Hospital and Medical Centre feels the need to increase these camps all over Mumbai City and all parts of India, so as to benefit the poor and the under privileged.
Operating Medical Camps in Slum/Urban Poor and Rural Poor Areas
In 2007, Aryan Medical and Educational Trust was registered as a public charitable trust under the Bombay Charitable Trust Act 1950. As part of its Mission the Trust with the staff and Doctors from Aryan Hospital and Medical Centre, with a view to create awareness of the common prevalent diseases and also provide free medical treatment and counseling, routinely conducts Medical Camps and awareness program. Till date 500 or more such camps have be conducted.
Large segments of India’s urban slum and rural poor populations do not have access to safe and reliable healthcare, Aryan Medical and Educational Trust and Aryan Hospital and Medical centre brings medical assistance to these under-resourced populations through such medical camps. These planned Medical Camps are modes that can reach all corners of a slum community and can travel the vast distances to support villages. By bringing healthcare to their doorstep, Aryan Hospital and Medical Centre ensure that the greatest number of patients is served without hindering daily livelihood. These medical camps treat primary health conditions and dispense free medicines to care for both acute and chronic disease. When additional assistance is needed, patients are given referrals to the appropriate government, private or public facilities that provide free or subsidized services and provisions are made for proper follow up and case management. Patients, based on their lifestyle, history and current complaints, are screened for parasitic infections, chronic diseases and asymptomatic conditions like hypertension/diabetes/cancers. Regular de-worming medicines are provided to patients with parasitic infections to prevent anemia, and nutritional supplements are given to those that demonstrate severe malnourishment.
ARYAN HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTRE HEALTH CAMPS
Even after decades of freedom, India is struggling to provide basic health services to its people. According to government sources, in India 45 children die every hour due to respiratory infections. 1 child dies every 2 minutes due to diarrhea. And annually, about 2 million children under 5 years of age die due to preventable diseases.
The situation calls for timely care and diagnosis which can reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality especially among children and women.
Aryan Hospital and medical centre Health Camps is one such special initiative of Aryan Medical and Educational Trust to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas and slums through standalone camps. Customized health camps are organized extensively across the country offering comprehensive health services – curative, preventive and referral, to a large number of people in selected intervention areas.
Multi-disciplinary projects include gynecological, paediatric, ophthalmology and surgical services etc., whereas other interventions can be general in nature. Duration of Aryan Hospital and medical centre Health Camps vary between one day and 15 days with frequencies ranging between a month and a year.
The uniqueness of this structure lies in its comprehensive approach where health promotion and prevention are given equal importance while curative care is administered.
